Let the creative flow of conkers commence!

A warm, summery welcome to Creative Conker :O)

My first post (small squeal of excitement!) is about a fabulous find, Mod Green Pod, from Austin, TX, founded by Nancy and Lisa Mims (sisters-in-law). I discovered MGP when looking for upholstery fabrics (and, let's be honest, for fabrics with butterflies on) as I'm planning to attempt to make seat pads for our bay window and pew. I'm almost reluctant to share as these fabrics and wallpapers are so divine that I want to keep them all to myself, so only my house will be adorned with the MGP magic!

Not only are the designs simply delicious, they are also friendly to you and the environment; the fabrics are printed on 100% certified organic cotton grown in the United States, using non-toxic printing pigments and dyes. In accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard, fabric protectors, colour fast agents, stain resistant, wrinkle-free agents or fire retardants are not used, thus avoiding dangerous chemicals off-gassing into your home. The result is rich, saturated colours. Their designs can also be customised to your desired colour-way which is an amazing and recent addition to MGP's repertoire - they have even produced a Custom Lab Catalog, printed on their organic cotton groundcloth for a perfect match.

The vinyl-free wallpapers are printed on Forest Stewardship Council certified paper using water-based inks, finished with a water-based glaze that can, very practically, 'tolerate light wiping. My favourite is undoubtedly the Butterfly Jubilee in cherry/stilton - I could actually line my life with this wallpaper!

On the MGP site you'll also find a fun Room Creator where you can play around with their fabrics and wallpapers to decorate an online room, complete with a cat, who I personally think looks rather fetching in the Wee Jubilee Raspberry!

Go forth and explore the delights of MGP - just don't let me know if you cover your house in the butterfly jubilee cherry/stilton because I may turn up and never leave.
